FOOD series - Thanksgiving

It's blog day and it's second Wednesday so it's FOOD blog day!! It's only fitting we have our first food series on the blog in November, aka Turkey month! Going along with the month, we are going to talk Thanksgiving food this month.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we will need to be planning those menus and grocery shopping before we know it! For our purposes we are going to have 2 "categories" I will discuss and share a recipe for. The idea is for everyone to share their own recipe in said categories (both or one, up to you!) in the comments. Whether it be links to recipes or pictures of printed out family recipes.

The first category will be yummy AND healthy Thanksgiving dishes. This can include sides, desserts, drinks, etc. Whatever you can think of that you or your family likes to make on Thanksgiving that is a healthy option, but still super yummy!

The recipe I am sharing can actually be made year around, but cranberries and pecans being a star of the show make it a little more Thanksgiving-esque. A great bonus to this recipe is that it is vegan and vegetarian-friendly!

Quinoa Salad with Pecans and Cranberries

Now, the second category will be a super yummy and NOT so healthy Thanksgiving dish. Because let's be honest, it's Thanksgiving and we want to splurge a little (or a lot). So this is a free game category, share your most favorite Thanksgiving recipe you typically like to make or eat or have had before!

This is something I look forward to ALL year for Thanksgiving. My mom made this every year for Thanksgiving that I remember and it's still a staple at our house during the holidays. It's chocolate, creamy, deliciousness and please I am begging you to make it this year. The bonus on this recipe is that it is EASY!

  • 1 store bought graham cracker pie crust
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 container cool whip
  • 1 chocolate fudge instant pudding packet
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • mini chocolate chips

Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and one large spoonful of cool whip. Spread on bottom layer of graham cracker pie crust. Beat the pudding with the milk, add in another large spoonful of cool whip. Spread over the cream cheese layer. Top with the remaining cool whip and spread to cover. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips. Chill thoroughly before serving.

So, now it's time for you ladies to get to thinking and sharing away!! Let's make our mouth's water before 8am about possible Thanksgiving food consumption!!
